She said, "We've got ourselves some newbies here!"
I shook my head, clutching the dusty owners manual, "Uh, no we're not newbies. We're whatever comes before a newbie. We're whatever you call someone who's never even been in an RV. Ever. We're that."
I must have sounded sincere or pathetic enough because she handed me a blank sheet of paper and a pen. She said, "Sweetheart, you're gonna want to write this down." So, these are a few things I bet you didn't know about living in an RV. I certainly didn't.
- There is special RV toilet paper - you can ONLY use that or your life will quickly start to stink. Both literally and figuratively.
- You have to drain your own sewage.
- Every other week you have to treat your sewage system with some kind of chemical so it doesn't get super duper gross.
- You should always keep your toilet lid closed.
- Use ONLY a white drinking hose for your water.
I'm certain there are more, but I think she didn't want to overwhelm me and thought she'd start with the most important: toilets. They also provided me with a contact for an RV repair person - not a great indication of their confidence. Lastly she asked if I wanted to get a gate clicker for a returnable deposit of $35 rather than use the key pad. I said, "No thanks, doesn't seem like a big deal". To which she replied with a knowing smile and barely stifled third laugh, "Ok, hun, I'll see you back here in a few days then." *wink*
I suspect there is much more I do not know. I am certain, however, that we will provide the RV lady with more laughs.
P.S. Anyone who knows RV stuff or has tips - tell us! Leave it in the comments please and thank you!

Until now, I'd never heard of RV Toilet paper. But Amazon has a ton, possibly even in "contractor pack" quantities. I am kind of afeared of "Rapid Dissolving" though.. HOW rapid are we talking..? -Suzy
